THE CHESS CLUB LATEST NEWS -MAY TO JULY 2023
After running only speed chess (blitzes, rapids and allegros) in 2022, we are finally back in our old room upstairs and able to play some serious chess.

The January Blitz tournament was held alongside the AGM, and was won by Anthony Chan with Christopher Ball and Michael Wang second.

The Club Rapid Championship was held in February and was won by Jean Rusakov on 8½/9, with Chris Ball second and Lorenzo Escalante third. The top under-1600 player was Nathan He.
The club also hosted the City of Sydney Rapid Championships in February and the City of Sydney Blitz Championships in March.

The Club Championship is being run for the first time since 2020, but as a 9-round Swiss this year, and after 8 rounds, with one round to go, Arthur Huynh is in the lead on 7/8, Daniel Lee close behind on 6½ and Nathan He on 5½.
The Club Championship will be followed by a 2-week Allegro tournament.

THE CHESS CLUB LATEST NEWS - NOVEMBER 2021

The chess club resumed operations on 3 November for casual chess only at this stage. When enough players resume attendance, we can organise a few Blitz or Rapid events. We are still limited to a maximum of 30 players in our downstairs bar space, so the 2021 Annual General Meeting will be held when we can accommodate the full club (upstairs), followed by the club championship.
